Prosperity vs. Poverty

Prosperity vs. Poverty

"In a country well governed poverty is something to be ashamed of. In a country badly governed wealth is something to be ashamed of."

Confucius

Despite massive prosperity amongst ever larger numbers of humans 20% of the planet's humans still control 80% of its assets and consume 80% of the resources and cause 80% of global nuclear and toxic waste.

Prosperity

In an Equal World - Prosperity is the ability of all community members to have access to basic needs, community abundance, opportunity, positive development, and hope without causing environmental/habitat destruction, pollution, wastelaying and wildlife extermination.

Poverty

Poverty is any barrier to prosperity. Poverty is a lack of resources and opportunities, feelings of being disenfranchised from various support systems (i.e., educational, economic, cultural, social and environmental), and diminished feelings of empowerment to obtain these resources and opportunities.

In our contemporary society only the prosperous can afford to consider the environmental consequences of human activities within the paradox of being at the same time at the forefront of causing most environmental problems and habitat and fellow species destruction.

"If all the economists were laid end to end, they'd never reach a conclusion."

George Bernard Shaw
