PAINTINGS FOR SALE TO SAVE THE PLANET

"Keep your love of nature, for that is the true way to understand art more and more."

Vincent Van Gogh (1853-90)

In this section you will find photographs of original oil paintings by VAN XILEF. Nothing else needs to be said about VAN XILEF – his paintings speak for themselves. Painted over a lifetime in England the paintings reflect his intense and deep interaction with the Earth. His concern has always been for Nature and Wildlife Habitat and Forests.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Martin Luther King Jr.

Throughout his life VAN XILEF had many offers from wealthy collectors and major Art Dealers who wanted to purchase and promote his paintings. He consistently refused their offers as he did not intend his paintings to become tradeable value objects or decorative adornments without achieving an underlying purpose.

"He who plants trees benefits another generation."

Caecilius Statius

After he discovered EQUAL EARTH he recognised and appreciated the specific philosophy which he had been searching for all his life. He donated a large number of his paintings to the cause of EQUAL EARTH on the specific terms that all monies received by EQUAL EARTH from buyers of VAN XILEF paintings be used - after deduction of reasonable administrative costs and expenses - for the acquisition and regeneration of Rainforests and Natural Wildlife habitat anywhere on the planet Earth.

"The love of liberty is the love of others; the love of power is the love of ourselves."

William Hazlitt

His paintings are displayed on the EQUAL EARTH website under the main heading PAINTINGS.

ALL VAN XILEF PAINTINGS ARE AVAILABLE FOR SALE BY AUCTION AT A RESERVE PRICE OF $10 THOUSAND US DOLLARS, €8 THOUSAND EUROS OR £5 THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING EACH. TO MAKE A BID PLEASE GO TO THE AUCTION PAGE OR CONTACT US.

"Wealth in the form of money is a poor substitute for health and well-being. And health and well-being on a deforested, polluted, desertified, waste-riddled planet - even if possible - would be meaningless. Real wealth is embodied in the ecological health of our planet Earth."

Felix Leisinger, Founder of Equal Earth

All proceeds of sales will be used for the purchase and regeneration of forests and wildlife habitat.

"To cherish what remains of the Earth and to foster its renewal is our only legitimate hope of survival."

Wendell Berry

We are not discussing values of creativity, paint or canvas. There are enough examples of this throughout history.

Ever since a certain Ms. Rothschild found, liked and bought a Van Gogh painting in a fleamarket in 1905 for five francs people all over the world have been looking for the big bargain that would make them millionaires.

In 1905 nobody would have made a single bet that Van Gogh would not only be remembered in every Encyclopaedia of the world but also see his paintings sold for millions of dollars and museums fighting each other to have at least one original.

"A wise man does not accumulate for himself. The more he uses for others, the more he has himself. The more he gives to others, the more he possesses of his own. The way of heaven is to benefit others and not to injure."

Lao-Tzu (c. B.C. 550)

VAN XILEF paintings are not about recognition in the context of ART though they have been acclaimed by Art Experts, Collectors, Curators and ordinary people as perhaps the most unique and oustanding paintings of the 20th Century.

"For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver."

Martin Luther (1483-1546)

VAN XILEF's paintings represent a pledge and deed of action – each buyer knowing that through the purchase of a VAN XILEF painting he or she has made a personal commitment to help to save the planet.

"We want the active and zealous help of every man far-sighted enough to realize the importance from the standpoint of the nation's welfare in the future of preserving the forests."

Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919)

Thus the higher the price paid the greater the deed and the commitment; the greater the impact we can make to save the planet.

"Trees are the earth's endless effort to speak to the listening heaven."

Rabindranath Tagore

Each VAN XILEF painting represents a specific token of gratitude to the bidder from all fellow species.

According to a study by Scientists and Ecological Economists from Maryland and Cambridge Universities about USD $45 billion should be spent to conserve natural habitat on land and in the oceans which would produce a net return in "services" produced by Nature of between USD $400 and $520 trillion. Such "services" from Nature include storm and flood protection, atmospheric carbon sinks protecting us from the harmful effects of pollution, reduced harmful street level ozone proliferation and less greenhouse effect, reduced atmospheric ozone layer destruction, increased photosynthesis, less global warming, prevention of ice caps melting etc.; in short a healthier environment for all life on the planet.

"We have forgotten how to be good guests, how to walk lightly on the earth as its other creatures do."

Only One Earth, the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, 1972

EQUAL EARTH HAS THUS PRICED EACH VAN XILEF PAINTING AT A RESERVE PRICE OF USD $1,2 MILLION OR € 1 MILLION EUROS INVITING ALL DONORS AND SPONSORS TO BID IN EXCESS OF THE RESERVE PRICE TO MAKE AS BIG A PLANET SAVING IMPACT AS POSSIBLE.

"Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful."

Joshua J. Marine

To give those who have greater means an opportunity to bid in excess of the reserve price for VAN XILEF paintings we are introducing an AUCTION platform where bidding starts in excess of $1.2 million US dollars or € 1 million Euros for each VAN XILEF painting.

"Without free animal life, I believe we will lose the spiritual equivalent of oxygen."

Alice Walker

The winning bid for each painting will be declared on the first day of the following month and the successful bidder informed according to his or her instructions, i.e. via email or fax.

Bidders must deposit the amount of their bid with a recognised Bank, Law Firm or Accountants who in turn must confirm to us receipt of the bid money.

"Healing the relationship between humans and animals is crucial to restoring the health of the world."

Susan Chernak McElroy

However, any bidder may at any time choose for his or her identity to be revealed to be commemorated in our GALLERY OF PLANET-SAVERS.

"In nature there are neither rewards not punishments--there are consequences."

Robert Green Ingersoll (1833-99)

Very large bids enabling us to buy an important area of forest or natural wildlife habitat can be preserved in memory under the name of the successful bidder or his or her appointed nominee subject to respective approvals.

"We live in a moment of history where change is so speeded up that we begin to see the present only when it is already disappearing."

R. D. Laing

Being awarded the unique privilege to name a forest and natural wildlife habitat after yourself or a loved one as an historic accolade to your generosity and foresight in helping to save the planet for all species will be remembered as a thoughtful gift for posterity and the ultimate achievement of human existence.

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

Mahatma Gandhi

Unsuccessful bids for any particular VAN XILEF painting; i.e. bids which were topped by someone else will be allocated to a similar VAN XILEF painting on the same bid basis so that in effect every bid above the reserve price will be ultimately successful. If you have a preference for a substitute painting please state this in the auction bid.

"But prosperity without a soul is like a corpse whose heart has stopped beating. There is no life, only consumption."

Cal Thomas

Anyone who wishes to participate in the bidding should complete the form below and produce the appropriate evidence in respect of the full deposit of the bid price paid into their representative bank, or to their lawyers or accountants.

Alternatively those wishing to remain anonymous may contact us via their representative or agent on FAX No. 00 34 95 282 07 40.

We are not tax experts but in view of the fact that we constitute a non-profitmaking philosophy and the only activity being the preservation of rainforests and natural wildlife habitat we understand that the amounts spent on any VAN XILEF paintings purchased by auction are a tax deductible expense. A bidder must rely on the advice of accountants in this respect.

"They absorb carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. What could be more desirable? And they look good in the bargain. Stop chopping down the rain forests and plant more saplings, and we're on our way."

Isaac Asimov (1920-1992)

We certify that all monies received from the AUCTIONS of VAN XILEF paintings are for the exclusive acquisition and regeneration of rainforests and natural wildlife habitat throughout the planet Earth. The transparency of all transactions are expected to be fully accompanied by the bidder's lawyers, accountants, surveyors or other relevant experts.

"Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you."

Frank Lloyd Wright (1869-1959)
